Dear Estonian Friends,

It is with great pride and pleasure that I have assumed my duties as Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Republic of Estonia as of 25 September 2026.

Türkiye and Estonia are two friendly countries whose diplomatic relations span more than a century. Following the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in 1924, the Turkish Embassy, opened in Tallinn in 1935, became one of nine Embassies then resident in the city. After Estonia regained its independence, diplomatic relations between our two countries were re-established on 23 October 1991.

In 2024, as we marked the centenary of our diplomatic relations, the presidential-level visit from Estonia to Türkiye provided an excellent opportunity at the highest level, to recall Turkish and Estonian peoples, the historical roots of the bilateral ties and their current stage.

With Estonia’s accession to NATO in 2004, our two countries became Allies, further strengthening the security and defence dimension of our relations. By undertaking NATO’s Enhanced Air Policing Mission in the Baltic region for the second time in the autumn of 2026, Türkiye is actively contributing to the preservation of peace and stability in the region. Bilateral trade between Türkiye and Estonia, which has been growing since 2020, exceeded 600 million USD by the end of 2025. Tourism, meanwhile, continues to be one of the most vibrant people-to-people and cultural dimensions of our relations.

The presence of Turkish citizens who have come to Estonia to contribute in several sectors, particularly in the field of information technology, in which Estonia has distinguished itself internationally, is a source of strength for our Embassy. We are equally pleased to see the growing number of our students, who will help carry Turkish-Estonian friendship into the future.

I would like to take this opportunity to reaffirm that, together with my colleagues, we will spare no effort to further advance Türkiye-Estonia relations in every field.

We will continue to support social and cultural initiatives that strengthen the bonds between Turkish and Estonian societies and help bringing greater visibility to the valuable work undertaken in this regard. Providing our citizens in Estonia with the highest standard of assistance in all areas, particularly in consular matters, will remain among our foremost priorities.

I would also like to emphasize that the doors of our Embassy will always remain open to our citizens and our Estonian friends.
